We hope it never happens, but if your pet has a healthcare emergency, our caring and knowledgeable staff will provide your pet with the care they need. Whether it’s a short visit or your pet needs to be hospitalized overnight, our hospital is equipped with the equipment and expert team to treat your family member.
My pet is unwell. Do they need emergency care?
Depending on your pet’s condition, they could need immediate medical care. During an emergency, every moment is critical. From the moment your pet enters our doors, our experienced team of veterinarians and registered veterinary technicians will work diligently to provide your pet with whatever they need. Our hospital has modern, in-house diagnostic equipment and a pharmacy necessary to provide time-sensitive care. We often see pets for the following emergency conditions:
- Excessive diarrhea, vomiting or bloating
- Difficulty urinating or having bowel movements
- Difficulty breathing
- Seizures
- Injured, bleeding or hit by a vehicle
- Underlying conditions like diabetes or cancer
- Swallowed an object
- Difficulty giving birth
What happens after I arrive with my pet?
Our emergency team will meet you at the front and can assist you with bringing your pet inside. Once our registered veterinary technicians, under the guidance of our veterinarians, have stabilized your pet’s condition, we’ll do a comprehensive exam to determine a treatment plan. Our treatment plan includes diagnostics (emergency ultrasound, X-ray, bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal exam), surgery, stitches and hospitalization (intravenous fluids, injectable medications, infection treatment, patient monitoring and post-surgery care). Once your pet is discharged, we’ll recommend a follow-up exam and review the detailed home care treatment plan that includes prescribed medication and careful observation. If you have questions before bringing your pet in, please contact us at 519-661-0496.
